Celebrating the 4th in Colorado? Well, you’re in luck! Discover all the things happening around the city during the Fourth of July and the weekend after.
Celebrate the 4th of July in classic American fashion, with fireworks and hot dogs of course! Beginning at 6 PM, the City of Aurora opens their Great Lawn for everyone to enjoy their own snacks, treats, and company. Get there early to pick out the best spot for viewing one of the best fireworks displays in Colorado. Fireworks begin at 9:30 PM. There will be no food trucks this year, so pack your own eats. We suggest bringing your seating (like blankets and lawn chairs).
The weekend kicks off Friday night at 7:30 pm with everyone’s favorite summertime movie, The Sandlot. Grab your blankets, chairs and snag a FREE popcorn or candy on us! Our socially distant lawn circles are ready for you to enjoy a great movie night under the stars. Movie begins at sunset (around 8:30 pm). Then from Saturday, July 3 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM enjoy pictures, nature educators, gardening demonstrations, and the food truck roundup
Spend your holiday in relaxation mode at Cherry Creek State Park. Discover beaches, miles of open space trails, wildlife viewing, mountain biking, and so much more at this massive natural oasis. Situated in Aurora’s southwest corner, visitors are welcome to partake in a variety of activities. From sailing to bird watching to leashing up your dog for a day hike, it’s all at Cherry Creek State Park. Pack a lunch and plenty of water to discover breathtaking mountain views. Check out the full list of on-site camping, designated picnic areas, and rules on their official website.
Sink your toes in the warm white sand at the Aurora Reservoir. Tucked away near Aurora’s eastern border, the reservoir is naturally beautiful and a true destination. Clear blue waters sparkle under the summer sun, and covered picnic areas make for an effortless afternoon. Not a beach bum? Get active! The Aurora Reservoir has lots of rental equipment for guests including stand-up paddleboards, bikes, inner tubes, and so much more. You’ll appreciate the splashing sounds of waves instead of the revs of motorboats at jet skis. Pack a lunch and your sunscreen before heading out.
