This H-shaped building was constructed as a "temporary" structure intended to last five to seven years and represents typical wartime construction. In the more than 70 years since it was completed, this building has served as office space, a warehouse, and the base museum. The building's most important function was during the years 1955-1958 when it housed the interim headquarters of the United States Air Force Academy. Today it serves the City of Aurora as an intergenerational center.
