AURORA EARNS SPOTLIGHT AS TOP 50 MEETING DESTINATION IN 2018
AURORA, Co. – August 23, 2018 – Aurora, Colorado has been ranked number 42 on Cvent’s list of the Top 50 Meeting Destinations in the United States for 2018. This a 14-point increase from last year’s ranking.
“We are honored to be ranked among the 50 outstanding meetings and events destinations in the country by Cvent,” said Bruce Dalton, Visit Aurora President & CEO. “Rising in the ranks is proof of the significant efforts we are making to get Aurora on the map as meetings and conventions destination.”
Cvent, Inc., a market leader in meetings, events, and hospitality technology, hosts one of the world’s largest venue sourcing networks and group business booking platforms. To create this year’s list, Cvent evaluated more than 5,000 U.S. cities featured on the Cvent Supplier Network where activity was tracked from January through December in 2017.
Aurora ranked above other notable destinations including Columbus, OH, Detroit, MI, Kansas City, MO and San Jose, CA.
“With meetings representing more than 13% of total travel and tourism spending and generating $845 billion in sales in the U.S. alone, they have become a major economic driver for these markets,” said Chris McAndrews, Vice President of Marketing for Cvent’s Hospitality Cloud. “The cities featured in this year’s Top Destinations lists have invested significant time, energy, and resources into building premier locations that entice organizations, large and small, to plan meetings and events in their areas.”
In alignment with the recent documented studies, Aurora is no exception in driving significant economic benefits for Aurora businesses and residents. In fact, in 2016 alone more than $45 million in local tax revenue from direct tourism spending benefited the City of Aurora. The revenue generated helps maintain and promote the attractions, trails, ethnic eateries, small businesses, and more to be enjoyed by visitors and locals alike.
