Punkin Chunkin Returns to Aurora on October 12
AURORA, Colorado, September 12, 2013 – Fall is just around the corner, and in Aurora, Colo., that means it’s time for cooler temperatures, leaves changing colors, corn mazes, seasonal autumn brews and of course, flying pumpkins.
October 12 marks the return of Punkin Chunkin Colorado to the Arapahoe Park Racetrack, for the 16th annual event. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., spectators can watch teams compete to see who can chunk their punkin the furthest – and this year, the event has the room and the machines to launch the gourds up to a mile!
The Punkin Chunkin Colorado competition includes launch divisions for various age categories and device types. Chunkers interested in competing can get more information or register by visiting the Punkin Chunkin Colorado site.
In addition to the launches, attendees will enjoy great food, a pumpkin patch, pumpkin obstacle course, farm animals, scarecrow making and pumpkin carving. Parking is free, and adult admission is just $3; kids 12 and under are free.
To celebrate this year’s Punkin Chunkin, Visit Aurora is hosting a contest on their Facebook page where friends and fans can submit their guess for how far the farthest punkin will fly. The closest three guesses will one of three prize packages, including an annual pass to Aurora Reservoir, a free one-hour golf lesson with PGA Pro Kevin Carlson at Fitzsimmons Golf Course or a prize package from Dry Dock Brewing Company.
